Secret Garden - treasure
of the Dominican Republic

Wide beaches, endless oceans, rich flora and fauna. A myriad of colors. Sunshine all the time. Friendly faces. This is your travel destination. This is the Dominican Republic. In the northern part of the island, about 20 minutes from the airport of Puerto Plata, there is a small haven for individual tourists between the settlements Sosoua and Cabarete - the Secret Garden. There are 5 beautiful, caribbean colored apartments which shine through to the road through the dense rain forest vegetation. The beautifully arranged and well kept garden is the ideal place for seeking calmness. Only the song of the ocean - a mere 70 m away -, the sound of wind blowing at the palm trees, the humming of lively butterflies and the sound of exotic birds might disturb the traveler's peace of mind. The apartments are all equipped equally. Sleeping on the king-size bed is a calming and luxurious feeling. The well equipped kitchen with freezer and cooker offer the comfort of preparing your favorite meals even when you're thousands of miles away from home in the Caribbean. After fixing your meal or your cup of coffee you can comfortly sit on your balcony or terrace and sooth your eyes on the turquoise water of the pool in front of the apartments. Should you choose to have a rich breakfast with your apartment, then you'll be able to consume it in the palm leaf-topped pavilon next to the pool. After breakfast you can either swim in the pool or you can lay down and enjoy the warm sunshine and the soft wind. You can get to the ocean through a small path next to a neighboring house and it is surprising that the beach is almost always empty. The ocean is always warm and is perfect for bathing, diving or other water sports. Long romantic beach walks - or even horseback rides - make your hunger grow. And the best place to eat out are the countless restaurants and cozy cafes at Sosua and Cabarete, both 4 km away from the Secret Garden. There are also numerous big supermarkets that make living in the Carribean so much easier.
